The Christian Mission Begins Around A Table

The mission of Easter becomes clear not at the tomb but at the table. We know the story of the empty tomb which we celebrated this past Sunday.  We know the story of Easter afternoon where Jesus surprises two disciples along the road to Emmaus.   They are on a 7 mile stretch of road less travelled from Jerusalem to Emmaus, Jesus appears to them, their hearts burn with passion and that road becomes the road must travelled.   But, the Easter mission becomes clearest with what happens on Easter evening around a fish dinner.  Over the table talk the followers of the resurrected Jesus come face to face not just with their risen Lord but the clear cut challenge of the Easter meaning.  Over broiled fish they are filled with the message about resurrection as transforming forward movement.   The disciples discover hope, gratitude, generosity, joy, amazement and a new found passion for praise and worship.  Bring your bible and come ready on May 1^st to look at the story of the Easter dinner that changed our world.
