Enjoy the Road Trip with Jesus!

Live your life like it matters…because it does!  Even in the summer.  Summer in the Pacific Northwest is a time to get out and about in the beautiful forests, mountains, beaches and parks.  Summer is a season to journey about and enjoy the longer daylight hours with a bit of a slower pace.  Since Judgment Day predicted by Harold Camping didn’t happen on May 21st I figure the Lord still has plenty of work for us to do around here.  So, I’ll be leading you on a summer Road trip with Jesus.  I invite you to come out on as many Sundays as your summer schedule allows and learn how to check your progress on your spiritual journey.  Our Roadmap will be the bible book of 1 John.  It’s an easy read and you’ll want to read it in the Message or the New Living Translation to get a fresh feel for these ancient but relevant words of scripture.   Here are some other road trip opportunities to help you grow in your spiritual journey this summer.

In June you may want to take a 30 minute road trip over to Warm Beach Camp on Friday, June 17th for the Annual Leadership Summit of our Pacific Northwest Conference of Free Methodist Churches.   Hear our bishop speak, hear the appointments, and join in the ordination of our assistant to the pastors, Vaughn Stehr.  Speaking of Warm Beach Camp, you’ll want to check out the fantastic Day Camps and weeklong camps they run for children and teens.

On Tuesday evenings during June, July and August we invite you to pack a picnic and take a short road trip in town to join others from MFMC and their friends for a picnic in the park.  Look for details in the Sunday bulletin and on our web site.  Get on the email list so you can be notified if the picnic is cancelled due to a rainstorm. You will be notified by 3pm.  However, we look forward to some good leisurely times to get to know each other better and develop friendships.

In August you might want to take some weekly evening road trips over to Warm Beach Camp again for the annual Free Methodist Family Camp.  Consider staying there all week as part of your vacation, a real spiritual treat as there are activities for every age.

On Saturday, August 20th we will join forces with several other congregations as we work together to give away school supplies to children. We love Jesus Christ, his call, his community, and his causes.  One of his causes is to help the needy.  40% of our school population qualifies for federal lunch subsidies and we see this as an indicator of an area where we can extend the justice and righteousness of our Lord in our community.   Would you help in making this morning a time to reflect the love of God to the residents of our community?   We plan two distribution sites complete with food; music, games, fun events, church booths and supply give aways.  Would you make the short road trip to help out?

Later in August our church is boosting awareness and raising funds for the modern abolitionist anti-slavery movement.  We will be hosting a 5K walk for the NOT FOR SALE movement on Saturday, August 27th.  Many people will be making a road trip coming here to Marysville for the FREE2WALK 5K event.  We need several of you to help us be good host in making this a success.  Email or phone Debbie in our office and let us know you are willing to help with the walk or summer school supply give away.  Our team leaders will get in touch with you.

Live your life like it matters…because it does!  Even in the summer.  I encourage you to enjoy the summer and make some time to include intentional activities with you church as we reach out beyond our campus to spread the healing power of our Lord’s loving spirit to our community.  See you on the road!  Honk if you love Jesus and summer or if I’m driving too leisurely!  – Pastor Vic
